BUSINESS COMMUNITY LUNCHEON
The 12th Annual Harlingen/San Benito Business Community Luncheon will be held at the 1st Baptist Church (Harlingen) on June 2, 2008.  The Luncheon will be from 11:30-1:00.  This year's speaker will be Kyle Rote, Jr. son of the late Kyle Rote a consensus All-American football player from SMU (1949-50).

It has been said that "there might not be any soccer moms without Kyle Rote, Jr.  The son of an NFL superstar football player, Kyle gave up college football to transfer to the University of the South in Tennessee to play soccer.  Following graduation Rote become the number one draft pick of the Professional Soccer League chosen by the Dallas team owned by Lamar Hunt in 1972.  His playing ability, charisma and style of play gave a great boost to the fledgling soccer league here in America.

Kyle also became one of only two people to win more than one of the popular, nationally televised Superstars competitions.  He won three times over such greats as Roger Staubach, Julius Erving, Sugar Ray Leonard and O.J. Simpson.

Today he has founded Athletic Resources Management, Inc. one of the countries most successful athlete marketing firms.  He maintains a firm commitment to civic responsibilities, is a popular motivational speaker, and he is on the National Board of Trustees for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
