Join the HOME TEAM and support the RGV-FCA Ministry!

Consider the great potential for reaching athletes and coaches in Rio Grande area by joining our Home Team.

The Home Team players are the financial backbone for the RGV-FCA staff's outreach to athletes and coaches, on campuses and in the community.  A Home Team player is one who not only agrees with the mission of FCA, but helps to underwrite the area's operational budget (local ministry salaries, office, etc.) by providing an annual financial gift over and above fund-raising events.  A Home Team member is one who is giving to FCA at a minimum of $25/month or $300/year.

The Home Team's success is dependent upon each team player being motivated to accomplish the common goals of :

  • Praying for the ministry of RGV-FCA.
  • Providing financial support on a regular basis.
  • Promoting the Home Team locally and inviting other to join.
  • Pressing on by reaching out to athletes and coaches.

To become a part of our local Home Team, contact the the RGV-FCA office (956) 994-1121).  Read below to see how your support can make an eternal difference for a young person.

Albert, a young sophomore athlete from Brownsville, was selected to be one of the officers of his High School Huddle.  He was chosen due to his leadership abilities and his character.  He decided to wait on his new summer job to attend the College Station Leadership Camp (LC) at Texas A&M University.

Now there were two major issues that Albert had to come to grips with that summer as he attended the LC at A&M.  One was his horrendous home life.  His father was in prison with over 10 years yet to serve on a drug charge and his mother spent a lot of time away from the home in the evenings.  One can imagine what she was up to.  Albert, for all intents and purposes was the family figure for his younger sister and brother.  The second issue was the fact that Albert did not know Jesus Christ as his Savior.  He had never been confronted with the "Good News" that Jesus had died on the cross for his sins and made a way for him to enjoy the blessings of the Lord as well as an eternity in Heaven.  He did not know about being "born again"!

During the Thursday evening Team meeting, the last night of the camp, Albert responded to the speakers altar call and met Jesus Christ as his Savior.  From that point on Albert's life has been one of miracles.  He has led his mother and siblings to Christ, become very active in a strong local church in Brownsville, and is such a magnetic leader of the FCA at his high school that the Huddle is the largest in in the school's history.

To cap it off, Albert's father may be coming home a lot sooner than expected.  It seems that his sentence is scheduled to be reduced by perhaps as much as six years.  Albert attributes it directly to the Lord answering his prayers for his father.  Albert fully expects his father to come to a saving knowledge of Christ as well.  He just believes it!

This all came to pass in Albert's life because one local businessman in the Brownsville area wanted to make sure that he had a chance to attend one of FCA's summer camps.  He joined the home team a made his donation specific to camp scholarships for the Brownsville area.  Thanks to him Albert and his family are now part of the family of God.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the only organization in our schools that gives students like Albert a sports club where the Bible is the game plan, and seeking its solutions to the challenges of teen life is an adventure. Huddle activities are fun, and frequently a service to the community. The Huddle is a place where relationships grow, and caring about others nurtures the heart, mind and spirit.

Sometimes, we often see the huge challenge of spreading the gospel, and forget that sharing the love of Christ with young people, like Albert, really is an adventure. Because FCA is volunteer intensive, and works together with the Christian community, we accomplish so much more. We give excellent value for your investment and we are thankful for the difference you have made in FCA's work. We hope you will continue to have faith in FCA's vision, and a desire to be a part of accomplishing our goals. Please help the RGV-FCA "Share the Victory" by choosing a method to give at the top of this page. Thanks again.
